The basic rules of Texas Holdem are as follows:
– The small blind is posted by the player to the left of the dealer and the big blind is posted by the player two to the left of the dealer.
– The dealer then gives each player two cards which are face down.
– The first round of betting then begins with the player to the left of the big blind. This player can either call, raise or fold.
– If this player calls, they must match the amount of the big blind. If they raise, they must at least double the amount of the big blind. If they fold, they give up their cards and take no further part in the hand.
– The dealer then deals three community cards face up in the middle of the table. These are known as the flop.
– Round two of betting starts with the player to the left of the dealer. This player can either check or bet. If they check, they choose not to place a bet and instead pass the action to the next player. If they bet, they must at least match the amount of the big blind.
– The dealer then deals two more community cards (the turn and river) face up in the middle of the table.
